Opera in the Alps

Day 1 (L,D) MELBOURNE, NAGAMBIE, MULWALA, BEECHWORTH, MYRTLEFORD
Departing Forest Hill Shopping Centre and Southern Cross Station we travel to Seymour and Nagambie, where we enjoy morning cuppa. On to Nurmurkah and Mulwala. Enjoy a luncheon cruise on Lake Mulwala on board the MV Paradise Queen. During the afternoon we travel to Beechworth for a town tour and cuppa A short final journey to Myrtleford. Home for two nights, the Golden Leaf Motel. Time to settle in, enjoy a pre-dinner drink and then dinner together at the motel.

Day 2 (B,D) MT BEAUTY, TAWONGA GAP, BRIGHT, OPERA IN THE ALPS
Visit Mt Beauty, views of Mt Bogong, Victoria’s highest mountain as we travel. Visit the information centre and enjoy morning cuppa together. Travel via Tawonga Gap to the beautiful village of Bright. Time to stroll in the village before returning to Myrtleford, with time to relax or explore the township. An early dinner at the motel. Then we head to Beechworth where we take our reserved seats for the highlight of our short holiday, Opera in the Alps 2012. This year’s event features virtuoso trumpeter James Morrison and soprano Helena Dix. They will be joined by a 100 voice choir and 50 piece orchestra led by one of Australia’s most entertaining conductors, Guy Noble. It’s a relaxing evening of classical favourites under the stars, in the picturesque grounds of La Trobe at Beechworth.

Day 3 (B,L) MILAWA, GLENROWAN BENALLA, EUROA, MELBOURNE
A visit to Milawa Mustards (taste and purchase if you wish) as we commence our journey home. Visit the Ned Kelly Museum at Glenrowan. Travel to Benalla, enjoy a stroll in the Benalla Rose Garden, then continue to Euroa for a delicious lunch. Continue to Yea, afternoon cuppa here, and a short journey back to Southern Cross Station, Melbourne, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m. and Forest Hill Shopping Centre at approximately 5:45 p.m. So concludes our most enjoyable short holiday to Opera in the Alps, 2012.
