Day 1 (L,D) MELBOURNE, FLINDERS ISLAND
We depart from Moorabbin Airport at 8:30 a.m. in our Chieftain 10 seater aircraft for the spectacular sight-seeing flight over Wilson’s Promontory to Flinders Island, landing at Whitemark. Morning cuppa on arrival. Visit Sawyers Bay, stroll along the beach, then to Killiecrankie, home to the white topaz known as Killiecrankie diamonds, prior to lunch together. During the afternoon visit Palana, North East River and Allports. Stroll to the beach where we enjoy afternoon tea. We transfer to Furneaux Tavern, our home for two nights. Dinner tonight at the hotel.

Day 2 (B,L,D) FLINDERS ISLAND
A leisurely day today as we explore picturesque Flinders Island. Enjoy views of Cape Barren Island from Vinegar Hill Lookout. Morning cuppa at Trousers Point, before continuing to Fotheringate Bay. After lunch we visit Wybalenna, site of the settlement of Tasmanian Aboriginals in 1833, and Emita/Port Davies on route to Furneaux Museum. Enjoy 360 degree views at Walkers Hill and afternoon cuppa at Patriarch Wildlife Sanctuary or Yellow Beach.

Day 3 (B,L,D) FLINDERS ISLAND, CRADLE MOUNTAIN, STRAHAN, GORDON RIVER CRUISE
Departing from Flinders Island we fly to Strahan via Cradle Mountain and Lake Dove (subject to weather conditions, fantastic views on a clear day) on route, a flight of approximately 1.5 hours. Strahan is located on beautiful Macquarie Harbour. Lunch prior to enjoying Captain’s premium seating on Lady Jane Franklin II as we cruise across Macquarie Harbour to Hells Gates, view Atlantic salmon farms, and visit Sarah Island as we cruise in the world heritage wilderness of Gordon River – ancient Huon pines and perfect reflections. Dinner as we cruise. Our home for two nights is the Strahan Village Hilltop, with harbour view rooms.

Day 4 (B,L,D) WEST COAST WILDERNESS RAILWAY
Today we travel to Queenstown to join the West Coast Wilderness Railway for the spectacular rail journey from Queenstown to Strahan on a line that once hauled copper from the Queenstown mines to the coast. We are seated in the Premium Carriage and enjoy morning tea as we travel through one of the world’s most rugged wilderness areas, crossing 40 bridges and descending 800 metres on the 35 km journey. We stop at stations along the way. A photographers delight! After lunch, some free time to enjoy the village atmosphere, and later, a dramatic and hilarious true story of an escape from Sarah Island – The Ship That Never Was.

Day 5 (B,L,D) STRAHAN, WYNYARD, KING ISLAND
This morning we fly north to Wynyard (refuel here) and Currie, on King Island. Lunch on arrival. An afternoon tour visiting sites around Currie including kelp drying racks, Admiral’s Beach, Currie Lighthouse and harbour, with some time in the Currie township and shops, famous for King Island beef, pies and other delicacies. Visit the famous King Island Dairy cheese factory. Taste and purchase if you wish. Later, enjoy a relaxing drink and watch the sun set from our home for tonight, the Boomerang Motel, prior to dinner together.

Day 6 (B,L) KING ISLAND, MELBOURNE
This morning we travel through picturesque farming land to Cape Wickham lighthouse, tallest in Australia. Collect yesterday’s orders for crayfish to take home (fresh, frozen or live, expertly packed for travel). Enjoy a crayfish lunch together (alternate menu for the non-crayfish eaters). After lunch we fly home to Melbourne via Cape Otway and the Great Ocean Road, arriving at Moorabbin at approximately 4:00 p.m. Time to bid farewell to travelling companions as we transfer to hotels or return to our homes, or continue with a later interstate flight, full of great memories of a most enjoyable holiday.
