This departure is during the Spring wildflower season and viewing of wildflowers is included in the itinerary, however good viewings of wildflowers are not guaranteed due to varying seasonal conditions.
Day 1 (D) MELBOURNE, PERTH
Passengers from Melbourne and other capitals fly to Perth. Seniors Coach Tours personnel will be there to meet us as we transfer to our hotel. Home for three nights, the Comfort Hotel Perth City (or similar).
Day 2 (B,L,D) LONDON COURT, ROYAL MINT, KINGS PARK
A relaxing day today in this modern capital city. We take a tour of Perth including London Court, The Royal Mint, visit Kings Park overlooking Swan River and the central city. Enjoy a walk in Kings Park with its many attractions including the Tree Top Walk and spectacular flower displays. Time in the city area for lunch and to browse.
Day 3 (B,D) FREMANTLE, HILLARYS BOAT HARBOUR
This morning we explore Fremantle, a fascinating city and a blend of the old and the new. We travel by ferry along the Swan River to Fremantle. Visit the Fremantle Maritime Museum and view the winning America’s Cup yacht Australia II. This afternoon we drive along the spectacular beaches of Perth’s Northern Suburbs to Hillarys Boat Harbour. Time to relax and shop in the many speciality stores here.
Day 4 (B,L,D) PERTH, MANDURAH, BUNBURY, BUSSELTON
This morning we start our fascinating journey of the South West, passing through Rockingham, Safety Bay, and Waikiki before arriving at Mandurah. We view the Dawesville Cut and arrive at the Dolphin Discovery Centre, Bunbury for lunch. Time to browse this informative display. Tour Bunbury before we drive the sensational Ferguson Valley with a stop at Gnomesville. Through the apple capital Donnybrook, then to Busselton River Resort for three nights.
Day 5 (B,D) MARGARET RIVER, AUGUSTA, CAPE LEEUWIN, YALLINGGUP
Today we visit the Margaret River Chocolate Company and a local winery prior to free time to browse shops in Margaret River. Arriving in Augusta we visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet and view the fossilised water wheel. We then return to Busselton via the scenic coast road with large stands of karri forest, spectacular views at Yallingup, then onto Dunsborough before returning to Busselton.
Day 6 (B,L,D) BUSSELTON, NANNUP
Busselton is a magnificent seaside resort nestled on Geographe Bay. A relaxing day today with a visit to the Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. We then view Port Geographe and visit the historic Old Butter Factory. Travel inland to the timber town of Nannup, our lunch stop. Journey home through jarrah forest and pine plantations.
Day 7 (B,L,D) BUSSELTON, PEMBERTON, WALPOLE
Travel to Pemberton with a stop at Beedelup Falls, then visit the local Pemberton Museum, hand-feed the brilliant Rosellas under the Giant Gloucester Tree. Board the Pemberton Tram which takes us on a forest journey winding through giant stands of karri & marri trees. Overnight at the Comfort Inn Tree Top Walk Walpole.
Day 8 (B,L,D) MANJIMUP, WALPOLE, ALBANY
A highlight of our holiday this morning as we enjoy a spectacular Tree Top Walk, high above the forest. Mid-afternoon we arrive in the coastal city of Albany. Take in views from the Gap, Natural Bridge and Stoney Ridge prior to arriving at our home for two nights, the Metro Inn.
Day 9 (B,L,D) ALBANY
A relaxing day in Albany as we explore this southern city which includes Anzac Memorial on Mt Clarence and Whale World, the site of the last operating whaling station in Australia. We travel to Mt Barker where we visit the Banksia Farm, with over 70 species of Banksia and wildflowers on display. We return to Albany with a visit to Mt Romance Sandalwood Factory.
Day 10 (B,L,D) ALBANY, STIRLING RANGES, WAVE ROCK, HYDEN
Following breakfast we leave the beauty of the coast and head into the interior, travelling again through the magnificent Stirling Ranges to Lake Grace and Hyden. Picnic lunch along the way. We visit the unique rock formation at Wave Rock, 2.7 million years old and up to 15 metres high. Enjoy also the Wildflower Shoppe, Wildlife Park and Old Lace Collection. Home tonight is the Hyden Wave Rock Hotel, country hospitality at its best.
Day 11 (B,D) HYDEN, YORK, PERTH
We travel through the wheat belt towns of Kondinin and Corrigin with a stop at the Dog Cemetery, then to York. Visit the York Motor Museum and the Mill Gallery which exhibits local hardwood furniture and fine art. A short drive to Perth completes our wildflower journey. Overnight at the Comfort Hotel Perth City.
Day 12 (B) PERTH, MELBOURNE
Sadly today we depart by air and return to our home ports, concluding a most enjoyable Western Australia Southern Highlights holiday. For Melbourne passengers, coach transfers are available to Southern Cross Station coach terminal or Forest Hill Chase.
